Your Unique Gifts and Talents Will Make Room For You and Provide Value to Others

You are blessed with unique gifts and talents that make you remarkable. Whether you know it or not, your gifts make you stand out among everyone else.

Though there may be other people who do what you do or have similar unique gifting, no one can do things the way you do them. This alone makes you valuable. Before you can tap into your gifts and put them to good use, you must recognize the value that your unique gifts and talents bring to the table.

“If you feel like you don't fit into the world you inherited it is because you were born to help create a new one.”-Ross Caligiuri

Sharing your gifts and giving back is a wonderful way to leave your mark on the world.

Most people spend a lifetime developing their gifts. Whether it’s a vocational talent or a natural gift, time and energy go into developing it. What you’ve learned along the way can be helpful to people who are coming up behind you.

You provide direct value for others through your gifts. Sometimes you earn your livelihood through your gifts and talents and other times you simply express yourself with them. It’s possible to be a gifted surgeon and also incredible at baking bread. Both talents have great value for others. You may earn your living as a talented graphic artist and spend your off-duty time playing an instrument. Both talents make an impact.

What happens when others can see your unique gifts and talents but you are blind to them yourself?

Do you see yourself as easy to get along with yet still you make enemies and find that people are often jealous of you? Congratulations, chances are you have unique gifts and talents that you don’t realize you have.

It’s easier for others to see the gifts and talents in us than it is for us to see them in ourselves.

That’s because we become plagued with insecurities; self-doubt; and fear. From the inside looking out, it appears that we are ordinary and in some cases inadequate, but to the outsider looking in, you appear very different even if they don’t tell you.

You look in the mirror and see an ugly duckling, trust and believe others around you see your swan potential.

You may see flaws, but others see uniqueness. As the black sheep of my own family, I can tell you that it is not always easy being different, but it is what makes you unique and in that uniqueness- you will find your gift if you don’t already know what it is.

There are benefits and responsibilities to having gifts.

Your unique gifts and talents might come very easy for you or they may be hard-won after years of honing your skills. The benefits are you can easily do things that other people can’t, or you have the wisdom and experience that other people don’t have just yet.

Knowing how to do certain things or having talents that other people do not also come with responsibility. There is a great need to share your gifts and talents with the world. Also, being a teacher and paying things forward is an important responsibility. Most likely someone along your path shared their gifts and talents with you which made your life better. It’s important to do the same for others and be willing to give back. Here’s why-

*Giving back can impact a new generation

* Giving back is a form of appreciation

* Giving back gives you purpose

* Giving back helps others

There are lots of ways to share your gifts and talents and give back. At some point in your journey, it makes sense to use your unique gifts and talents to give back and share your gifts and talents with others. It can change a life and make you feel good all at the same time. Here are some fun ways to give back-

 * Teach a class

* Become a mentor

* Volunteer

Having gifts and talents is wasted if you aren’t celebrating them with others. Sharing your unique gifts and talents and finding a way to give back helps every new generation develop their unique gifts and talents too.

What are some examples of gifts and talents?

People are often confused by the terms gift and talent. You might think that only musicians, athletes, singers, and the like are gifted. That is not true. There are many fields of study in the universe and you can be gifted and talented in any one of them.

Take for instance, spirituality.  You may be gifted at inspiring people to live a more positive life; uplifting people in a slump; or teaching them a new self-growth skill.

Maybe you are talented at something practical like listening, so that makes you a great counselor. Or you are a talented writer of poetry or fiction, so you encourage through written prose.

In my own family, we have talented cooks, bakers, writers, athletes, stylist, makeup artist, salespeople, artist, and the list goes on.

In some cases, skills are combined and that offers added uniqueness. For example, a person skilled at listening, speaking, and playing an instrument may give back to underprivileged children by teaching a class or publish a how-to-guide that helps millions learn from their knowledge.

Never try to compare your gift to someone else. It's not the skill that makes it unique, its you who makes the gift special. There is no one else like you and that's why a million people could do the same thing you do and you still outshine them all. They are not you.
