Achieving Personal Satisfaction and Happiness By Loving Yourself First.

There’s a lot of misconceptions about achieving personal satisfaction; about what it means to be happy and how satisfied we should actually be to be considered happy. The meaning seems to have shifted around a bit over time, and currently for many people, it doesn’t have all the importance that it could.

When you think of someone who’s successful, you imagine them as absolutely ecstatic, without a care in the world, and just living their life to its fullest extent. What many people don’t realize, though, is that there are a few different levels of personal satisfaction.

At the lowest level, even thinking about  achieving personal satisfaction can cause stress and extreme dissatisfaction. This is where you’re absolutely miserable. Your life is nowhere near where you want it to be. You don’t like your job, you don’t like your family, and you feel as if you’re just at a constant low point.
This point is a hard one to stay in. Next, you’d have discontent - a less extreme version of the prior level. At this stage, you’re just not quite happy with everything. Life is bearable, but that’s about it.

Your job might be stable, but it’s not enjoyable or good paying, and you probably don’t care for a few family members. Overall, life is just subpar. At this point, most people aim for the next stage up: satisfaction.

Life isn’t bad, but it’s not the best. Your job is alright, you count your blessings, and you’re just kind of content here. However, this is also the point in which you feel stuck most often.

Achieving personal satisfaction becomes almost a sort of purgatory in which you’re not quite where you want to be, but you feel like you can’t advance much further. The stage people should be aiming for is bliss. This is the point at which you’re actually successful and you feel that way.

Here, you’re not just content with your life, you’re happy with it. You feel proud of your achievements, you’re doing things that you love, and you have good relationships. You’re genuinely happy.

That is the stage people should be aiming for. When people dream about their life plans, they seem to plan for mediocrity and just assume they’re going to peak at just being content.

Why stop there? Everyone should be striving for  achieving personal satisfaction-- that absolute happiness, because if you don’t, you’re either going to end up feeling stuck or worse. By aiming high, the worst thing that’ll happen is you might stay stagnant or end up a bit happier than average. Either way, the only way to attain that kind of success is to chase it.

What External Factors Threaten You achieving Personal Satisfaction?

Success is often only thought of in terms of what you can do. You have to have the right mindset, do the right things, act the right way, and it’s all very self-centric. However, just improving yourself won’t always allow you to be successful.

Sometimes, there are external factors involved that are standing in the way of you and success, and you have to figure out how you’re going to address them. These factors are never the same for everyone, but there’s often some similar types of factors that might be holding you back.

A common one might be your geographic location. Depending on where you live, you might not have access to the resources you need to pursue the life you want to lead. It’s not always as easy as just picking up and moving, either.

You probably have a substantial life built up where you are, so you’ll have to weigh the pros and cons of moving away versus staying. Another factor in  achieving personal satisfaction is unfortunately having to care for others.

You may have a relative or someone close to you that you need to take care of, and you don’t want to just abandon them in order to pursue success. Often times, it’s either morally wrong to do so or just not an option for you at all, and as inconvenient as it is, there’s not much you can do about it other than try to bring your success to where you are.

One sad external factor that might be holding you back is a toxic relationship. This could be with a member of your family or an intimate relationship with someone else, but either way, there are those who will try to hold you back from being successful.

Many people have unfortunately had to deal with someone who didn’t want them to  achieve personal satisfaction, even though they were supposed to be close to them and support them. In toxic relationships like these, the best bet is to cut it off before it’s too late.

External factors make your path to success so frustrating. You could be doing everything right, but these things keep holding you back. It can make you feel powerless and it can make you feel angry, but you have to keep your head held high and push through.

Over time, you’ll be able to overcome these negative factors, and become independent and achieve success your own way, without anyone else trying to prevent that. Being aware and having a plan of action to power through is all you need to  achieve personal satisfaction achieving personal satisfaction in the end.

What Strengths Do You Have to Help Change Your Life?

Once you feel ready to finally tackle the challenge of becoming successful, one of the first things that you should do is take stock of your strengths that you can use to help you advance along your path.

Everyone has their individual strengths, and they can help you achieve the dreams you want to. By taking stock of your specific strengths, you can create a more effective plan based around them.

For instance, you might be very good at time management or you might have an upper hand when it comes to being energetic due to your flawless sleep habits and nutrition. Your ability to focus and follow through might be your strength.

Don’t try to compare yours to other peoples’. Strengths can be very different for each person, and they all have their own separate uses. They can be anything from patience to being good at a certain aspect of your job.

But as long as you’re able to identify them and recognize them, you’ll be able to use them to help you be more successful. It’s important that you realize that all strengths are used differently, because what might work for one may not work well for another.

For example, if one of your major strengths is persistence, then there’s many ways that you can use that to help change your life. Persistence comes in handy when you’re faced with serious adversity and rough patches so that you can keep on moving despite being put down.

However, if you’re better at being efficient, then that’ll help you in its own way. Efficiency would help you be able to get your work done more consistently and quickly, giving you more time to allocate to other parts of your life and your success path.

One important aspect of these strengths is that they allow you to boost your confidence in such a way that you’ll be more likely to succeed. In addition to having actual benefits, the confidence you get from knowing your strengths and being able to wield them like a weapon in your arsenal for success can be very empowering.

Don’t be afraid to get a bit boastful when you’re thinking about what strengths you have. It’s perfectly fine to brag to yourself about all the things you’re good at, since all it’s doing is boosting your confidence.

As long as you don’t get to a point where you’re lying to yourself, it’s totally acceptable to be proud of your strengths and rely on them when needed. Many people don’t have the willpower to succeed, but by investing so much in your strengths, you’ll be much more confident that it will sustain you during tougher times.

What Weaknesses Do You Have That Could Sabotage Your Efforts?

Although it’s great to always maintain a positive attitude about things, sometimes it’s good to take a step back and look at yourself a bit more critically. It’s important to know your strengths, but also your weaknesses.

Taking a look at both equally can help you boost your confidence and avoid making any silly mistakes that could’ve been prevented. When it comes to weaknesses, you need to be able to evaluate yourself honestly.

Knowing your weaknesses can become a great strength, so don’t take this lightly. Be completely honest with yourself and figure out what you could be doing better. By knowing what it is you need to work on to achieve personal satisfaction, you’re not going to have to deal with the problems caused by them as much.

There are so many different weaknesses out there, and they can all affect you  achieving personal satisfaction. For example, you might have low self-esteem, leading to you being less likely to take risks because you’re not confident in your ideas.

Not taking risks every now and then isn’t going to help you succeed. Sometimes you need to take a risk in achieving personal satisfaction. Another common weakness is the tendency to procrastinate.

Procrastination can absolutely kill your productivity, causing you to get behind on your work and become stuck or held back. Procrastinators often pretend that things are alright until they’re too close to the deadline.

Then they panic and do their work as quickly as possible. So even if you do complete your work on time, you’re still burnt out from working so fast. No matter what your weakness is, it’s crucial that you’re able to identify it, how it’s affecting you achieving personal satisfaction, and what you can do to remedy the situation.

By knowing that, you’ll be able to come up with an effective plan regarding how to deal with your shortcomings. Being able to deal with your weaknesses instead of ignoring them is important to  achieving personal satisfaction.

By either fixing or being able to work around your weaknesses, you’re giving yourself a great strength. You won’t have to be worried anymore about what could go wrong or what you might mess up, because anything that doesn’t go your way by that point is up to chance. You’ll be so much more confident in your own abilities, having fully analyzed what might hold you back.
